PUCKER UP Sour Pusses.....We're Making Sweet Basil Lemonade

This recipe is adapted from Giada de Laurentiis' Italian Lemonade found here
Italian Lemonade Recipe

I squoze about 15 lemons, hehehehe I said squoze.

Picked some sweet italian basil from my own purrrsonal stash on the deck. Steep it in a simple syrup w/heat for about 5 minutes and then let cool. I then mix my squozed lemons, 4 cups of cold water, and the basil simple syrup that has been strained of the basil in a large pitcher.

Serve over ice. This is soooooo incredibly good you have NO idea.

The possibilities here are endless....this would be really good w/a splash of Limoncello or Citrus Vodka....just a *splash*, let's not get carried away. It would also probably be mucho yummy w/rosemary or cilantro or lavender in place of the basil. If you like sweet basil you have to try this. So simple and so refreshing. It is one of our fave's. I also made my simple syrup this time w/splenda instead of regular sugar.

oooooh One more thing also. I have also done a 1/2 & 1/2 or Arnold Palmer with this.....1/2 Basil Lemonade and 1/2 Tazo Passion Fruit Tea......soooooooooo tasty.

Yummmm, and I WILL be adding a slash of vodka to mine. ;-)

I saw that cute fishy tablecloth/runner in the Pottery Barn catalog -- fun!

Jennings~make sure you charge TOP dollar for the lemonade.

Lora~tis' very yummy....especially mixed 1/2 & 1/2 w/the passion tea.

Leah~yes, I have a very bad addiction to Pottery Barn. We have an outlet about 2 hours away...I plan on hitting it again this summer for my bday. Williams Sonoma outlet is right beside it. YIKES!!!

My birthday is this summer too...maybe we should go shopping at PB and WS together -- I'll bet we could do some damage. ;-)

I'm so excited...that I am going to steal basil from the winery's herb garden (mine's yet too small) and make this post haste! Thanks for sharing.

Krysta--you should definately make this into a sorbet. Scoop your sorbet into a puddle of vodka hehehe.

K--I won't tell anyone you stole, it is worth the time if you do the crime anyway.
